Established in 2016, THE Alliance started operations in April 2017. Together, we operate 260 ships, call at 82 ports, and offer 31 different services. We, THE Alliance cover all east-west shipping trades: Asia and North Europe, Asia and Mediterranean, Transpacific – West Coast, Transpacific – East Coast, Asia and Middle East / Red Sea, and Transatlantic.

Our network makes it easier for each lines’ customers to plan the transportation service of goods globally, offering an attractive package of products in major trade lanes.

Members

THE Alliance brings together four major international shipping companies from Europe and Asia. Each company contributes its unique strengths – and, in return, benefits from the others’ expertise. As a result, THE Alliance has one of the most modern fleets at its disposal.

Hapag-Lloyd

With a fleet of 253 modern container ships and a total transport capacity of 1.8 million TEU, Hapag-Lloyd is one of the world’s leading liner shipping companies. The Company has 14,300 employees and more than 400 offices in 137 countries. Hapag-Lloyd has a container capacity of 3.0 million TEU – including one of the largest and most modern fleets of reefer containers.

HMM Company Limited (HMM)

HMM Company Limited (HMM) is South Korea’s national carrier, headquartered in Seoul. As one of the world’s leading container shipping companies, HMM operates worldwide transportation services with a global fleet of 74 state-of-the-art container ships and its total transport capacity amounts to 0.8 million TEUs. HMM has the reputation as a world-class integrated logistics company based on its comprehensive global network, highly skilled vessel operations and accurate market forecasts. The company strategically collaborates with customers to develop customized supply chain solutions for dry, refrigerated and other specialized cargo.

Ocean Network Express (ONE)

Ocean Network Express (ONE) was incepted in 2017 following the liner service integrations of “K” Line, MOL and NYK. It functions from the global headquarter in Singapore, supported by regional headquarters in Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazil.

ONE offers an expeditious and reliable international network of services around the world. Its fleet size comprises 1.5 million TEU, making it the seventh-largest in the world. With the vision of being a global leader in realization of environmentally sustainable shipping, and a target to reach net-zero by 2050, sustainability is a top business priority at ONE.

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation (Yang Ming) was founded in 1972 and provides high-quality services to customers. Teamwork, innovation, integrity and pragmatism are their core values. By following these values, the employees worldwide contribute to improving transportation expertise and service quality. The company handles 94 vessels with a TEU capacity of approximately 0.715 million.

The carrier is dedicated to providing global and sophisticated marine transportation services with high-quality – punctually, speedily, reliably and economically.

In response to recent developments surrounding THE Alliance, which includes member lines Hapag-Lloyd, HMM, Yang Ming Marine Transport, and Ocean Network Express, we wish to emphasize our unwavering commitment to maintaining a robust cooperation throughout 2024, ensuring that the highest standards of cooperation and exceptional service are delivered to our stakeholders and the industry at large.

THE Alliance announces service network adjustments for 2024

The setup of THE Alliance’s network has been reconfigured to ensure a comprehensive port coverage. The enhanced service setup will be effective from April 2024. One of key highlights in 2024 will be deploying additional tonnage in several services to ensure the most comprehensive coverage and the most reliable schedule under the existing operational conditions.

THE Alliance announces Transpacific-North West Coast change

In consideration of the present market situation, THE Alliance will make changes to the Asia to Transpacific-North West Coast Network by temporarily suspending the PN3 service and enhancing the existing PN2 service as of week 41 until further notice.

THE Alliance announces service network upgrade plan for 2023

THE Alliance’s network has been reconfigured to ensure the most comprehensive port coverage to maximise the satisfaction of the member lines’ customers. The enhanced service setup will enter into effect from April 2023.
